Rally for striking workers
The approximately 30 OPSEU Local 276 members who are on strike at the Owen Sound Family Health Team clinic are hosting a rally and barbecue Tuesday from 11 am to 2 pm
The 30 physician receptionists, RN’s and custodians are paid by the doctors.
They walked off the job May 22nd citing wages and work load.
The picketers say inflation is eating away at their pay cheques which haven’t changed in four years while some, doing the same jobs with other health teams in the city, are earning significantly more.
The last offer of 3 percent over 3 years was turned down in March.
Meanwhile doctors still don’t have a contract with the Ministry of Health and have seen their pay drop by about 7 percent in the past five years.
