Pair wanted in Hanover stabbing surrender
The Hanover Police Service continues to investigate a stabbing of a Loss Prevention Officer from Wal-Mart located at 1100 10th Street in the Town of Hanover.
On November 3rd 2017 at approximately 4:10 p.m., a Loss Prevention Officer at Wal-Mart attempted to arrest a male and female suspect for theft related to a shoplifting incident.
During the interaction, the male suspect pulled out a knife and stabbed the Loss Prevention Officer before fleeing the scene in a dark coloured vehicle.
The Loss Prevention Officer was treated at the Hanover and District Hospital for non-life threatening injuries and was later released.
On November 6th 2017 the Hanover Police Service investigators obtained arrest warrants for the arrest of Joseph Pollard, 29, and Samantha Hillyer, 28, both of Brockton.
On November 8th 2017 at 11:45 p.m. Joseph Pollard and Samantha Hillyer attended to the Hanover Police Service Station and surrendered to HPS officers on their charges.
They were held overnight and transported to Walkerton Bail Court for bail hearings.
Joseph Pollard faces the following charges;
1. Aggravated assault
2. Assault with intent to resist arrest
3. Escape lawful custody
4. Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
5. Theft under $5000
6. Possession of property obtained by crime under $5000
7. Breach of probation
Samantha Hillyer faces the following charges;
1. Assault with intent to resist arrest
2. Escape lawful custody
3. Theft under $5000
4. Possession of property obtained by crime under $5000
