My parents moved our family to 2nd Ave West when I was six years old and outside of my years at college in London I lived there until finding my own apartment in Owen Sound 2o years later.

I believe my father wanted to live at this location because he was an avid fisherman and he liked having the Sydenham river in his backyard.

What we did discover in the first year and have enjoyed each and every year after is the Mill Dam. In the early fall you can see how amazing it is to watch the Chinook Salmon battle the current and take on the fish ladder to find the perfect spot upstream to spawn.

I have found that the best time of year to see the salmon is the first week in October.
