UPDATE: Meaford incident ends peacefully
Grey County OPP say an incident in which a man barricaded himself inside a Meaford home has ended without incident.
OPP with the assistance of the West Region Emergency Response Team (ERT), the West Region Tactics and Rescue Units (TRU) and the West Region Crisis Negotiation Team were called in early this morning after reports that someone was inside a Pearson Street residence.
A number of streets in the neighbourhood were closed while police negotiated with the man.
Around 4:45 Thursday morning the incident was resolved peacefully.
There was a total of four people inside the home.
Three were released.
The fourth, a 31-year old male from the Municipality of Meaford was arrested on an outstanding warrant.
He is charged with the following offences:
– Assault with a Weapon (x2)
– Spousal Assault (x2)
– Mischief under $5000 (x2)
– Uttering Threats (x2)
– Assault Causing Bodily Harm
– Forcible Confinement
A bail hearing is scheduled for later today, August 10, 2017.
Pearson Street, Trowbridge Street and Berry Street have been reopened.
