Man charged after lying to police
One man is facing charges for lying to the police over the weekend.
At around midnight on Friday night, Grey County OPP received a report of two, possibly intoxicated, males attempting to remove a pick-up truck that was stuck in a snowbank in a commercial parking lot on Highway 6 & 21 on the Sunset Strip in the Township of Georgian Bluffs.
Police attended the scene and located one of the males who indicated that the owner of the pick-up truck had left him there. A 24 year old Owen Sound man was issued a Provincial Offence Notice for being Intoxicated in a Public Place under the Liquor Licence Act.
While speaking with the man, the owner of the pick-up truck returned to the scene operating a vehicle.
He proceeded to tell the officer that his pick-up truck had been stolen a week prior and that he had reported the theft to police. He stated he came to the parking lot after hearing it was recovered.
Investigation revealed that the pick-up truck had not been reported stolen.
The 23 year old from Georgian Bluffs was charged with Obstruct Police. He is scheduled to attend court in Owen Sound on February 1, 2018.
He was also issued a three-day driver’s licence suspension for having a blood/alcohol level in the “Warn” range.
