Local flu cases on the wane
While Grey Bruce has been hit hard by flu this year, it appears things are starting to ease off.
Grey Bruce Health unit spokesperson Allana Leffley says they had more than a dozen outbreaks reported in February at long term care and other health facilities and that has started to slow down.
There were 23 individual lab confirmed cases since January which are also starting to slow down.
Leffley says while it looks like the worst is behind us with influenza A, the B strain is still out there.
She warns against dropping our guard as Influenza B can still hang on until May.
She puts our busy flu season down to not getting the flu shot but says our aging population can still be susceptible to the flu despite having been vaccinated.
