Former Owen Sound mayor remembers prominent businessman Leo McArthur
Owen Sound is mourning the loss of one of its most prominent residents and businessmen.
Leo McArthur, who became the head of the Miller empire, has died after a long illness.
While he was most recently living in the GTA, McArthur had humble beginnings in Owen Sound and former mayor Ruth Lovell Stanners has fond memories of working with him over the years and says its a big hit for the entrepreneurial family;
Lovell Stanners adds Leo loved Owen Sound just as much as the city loved him;
McArthur leaves behind his wife Helen and their two grown children and their families.
His other daughter Julie, who pre-deceased him has her name on the front of Owen Sound’s new rec centre after the family made a sizable donation.
While funeral services are being arranged for the GTA there will be several opportunities for Owen Sound residents to say goodbye.
