UPDATE - victim in fatal crash identified
On Tuesday May 16, 2017 at approximately 10:00 p.m. Wellington County OPP responded to a collision involving two vehicles on Wellington Road 9 at Concession Road 6, near Moorefield.
Police say a pickup truck ran a stop sign and collided with a minivan.
The driver and passenger of the minivan were rushed to local hospital where the female passenger was pronounced dead.
She’s been identified as 69 year old Brenda Jones of West Grey.
The male driver of the minivan sustained non-life threatening injuries.
The driver of the pickup truck was cleared by paramedics at scene.
The passenger’s name will not be released until next of kin have been notified.
Mapleton Fire/Rescue along with Guelph Wellington Paramedics service attended the scene.
The cause of the collision is currently being investigated by OPP Technical Traffic Collision Investigators and the intersection of Wellington Road 9 and Concession Road 6 of Mapleton Township remained closed into the early morning hours.
