Day Two of 'do not use water' advisory for parts of Owen Sound
Its day two of now showers or coffee at home for for several hundred residents of the north east corner of Owen Sound.
The area is still under a do not drink or use advisory after a couple of watermain breaks Wednesday night.
City officials have sent off their water samples to London and expect to hear something back late Friday afternoon.
In the meantime, some businesses and restaurants are closed for another day along the 16th Street East corridor.
The affected area is all properties north of 10th Street East, east of 9th Avenue East.
THE CITY ADVISES RESIDENTS NOT TO USE OR DRINK THE WATER IN THE AFFECTED AREA.
Toilets may be flushed for waste water purposes.
The City is making the Bayshore Community Centre (1900 3rd Avenue East) and the Julie McArthur Regional Recreation Centre (700 10th Street East) available for showering again on Friday from 6:30am to 10pm.
The Family Y is also available for showers. If you plan to attend the Y, please bring with you:
· Photo ID to sign in to the facility
· Towel, shampoo, etc
· Lock to secure belongings in a locker
Drinking water is available for residents affected by the advisory at the Water Depot (640 10th Street West) or filling stations at the designated Shower stations listed above.
The Water Store on 16th Street East had a limited supply but have since given it all away.
They are also in the advisory area and aren’t able to filter more water.
Residents affected are encouraged to bring their own water containers for transportation.
