Family Day is coming up quickly and what better way is there to spend time with your loved ones than celebrating the 11th Annual Family Heritage Day at the Bruce County Museum.

There are lots of activities going on all day long at the Museum with fun for all ages while celebrating the skills, talents and pastimes of the pioneers of Bruce County

Kicking right off at 10 o’clock in the morning, there will be a number of displays in which artisans will be demonstrating rope-making, hand-spinning, weaving, rug-hooking and historic woodworking!

You can even help run a model railroad track!

If you want to hear some great music, you can catch the fiddle and guitar duo “Eldon John” or to listen to some funny outdoor stories, Jerrold Beech will be at the museum all day. For those who want to brave the outdoors on Family Day, you can hang out with sled dogs!

The special event of the day will be a workshop from Mary Foley and Celtic Academy of Canada from 11:30 to 2:30pm. They will be demonstrating and teaching Irish Ceili dancing.

And on top of all the excitement, you can always catch the current exhibits they are featuring!

One of their permanent galleries is the must-see Captivating Coastlines collection which includes a virtual experience that lets you feel what it would be like on the HMS General Hunter, the War of 1812 battleship during a storm!

You also can’t miss the Bruce Remembers collection where you can experience what life would have been like for a WWI solider along with stories from the stories of the 160th Bruce Battalion.

There will also be a lunch counter available between 11:30 and 1:30pm.

A bonus for those who are looking to purchase or renew their museum membership, you can get 10% off ONLY on Family Day. Check out their website to find out more!
