BEATLES: played last full concert 50 years ago today
As hard as it is to believe today, the legendary band’s last show wasn’t even a sellout. Not even close. The band drew 25,000 fans to Candlestick Park in San Francisco on August 29th, 1966, the final stop on its 1966 U.S. tour. There were 42,500 tickets for sale and the promoter lost money on the event.
The set consisted of just 11 songs and the setlist was identical to that of almost all the other shows on the tour.
Setlist: “Rock and Roll Music,” “She’s a Woman,” “If I Needed Someone,” “Day Tripper,” “Baby’s in Black,” “I Feel Fine,” “Yesterday,” “I Wanna Be Your Man,” “Nowhere Man,” “Paperback Writer,” “Long Tall Sally.”
In August 2014, Paul McCartney played the final concert held at Candlestick Park, which closed for good last June. He speaks about the two times he played that venue.
