Attack welcome Erie to the Bayshore
Preview provided by the Owen Sound Attack
The Owen Sound Attack and Erie Otters are set to meet at the Harry Lumley Bayshore Community Centre for the 1st time in 2017-18, and the 1st time since the Otters eliminated the Attack in Game 6 of last season’s Western Conference Championship Series en route to winning the OHL Championship.
But while the organizations remain the same, the make up of Wednesday night’s tilt is much different than the two teams that met for the 2017 Wayne Gretzky Trophy.
After finishing 1st in the OHL with 50 wins and 103 points last year, the Otters are off to a rough start this season, having posted a 2-4-1-0 record, good for just five points in seven games of action.
Returning forwards Kyle Maksimovich and Taylor Raddysh lead the way for Erie with seven points each at this early mark in the season, but the graduations of OHL Player of the Year, Alex DeBrincat, and Defenseman of the Year, Darren Raddysh, as well as captain Dylan Strome have left the Otters without a big chunk of their offence from last year.
The Attack, on the other hand, have continued to show their offensive flair through their first six games of the year, with five players averaging at least one point per game – led by Nick Suzuki and Sean Durzi with 11 points apiece.
Suzuki’s Huron Tractor Supply Player of the Week campaign in Week 3 of OHL play saw him rack up eight points in three games played to vault himself up the league point scoring list, while Sean Durzi’s steady play on the Owen Sound blueline has helped him become the league’s leading point-scoring defender thanks to his two goals and nine assists.
Wednesday night’s contest marks the 1st of six meetings on the year between the teams, and the first 1700 fans to enter the Bayshore through the main lobby will receive a free giveaway courtesy of the Attack’s 2017-18 presenting sponsor.
Partnering with Lerner’s Personal Injury Lawyers and Bertrand & Muzzell Paralegal Services, the Attack will be giving away free OYO Sports Cubby figurines to the first 1700 fans through the gates on Wednesday night.
The Attack and Lerner’s Personal Injuary Lawyers and Bertrand & Muzzell Paralegal Services encourage fans to arrive to the Bayshore early on Wednesday night to take advantage of this exclusive giveaway offer.
Tickets for the game and all remaining Attack Home Games, can be purchased at the MacVicar & McComb ReMax Attack Box Office, online at www.attackhockey.com, or by calling 519-371-7452.
