Attack to meet Rangers first in playoffs
Attack and Rangers meet in First Round
The Owen Sound Attack will face the Kitchener Rangers in the Conference Quarterfinal Round of the 2017 Ontario Hockey League Playoffs.
The Owen Sound Attack wrapped up the 2016-17 Ontario Hockey League regular season with an 8-5 win over the Guelph Storm on Sunday, Mar. 19
Led by Zach Roberts’ 1st career hat-trick and a four assist evening by Markus Phillips, the Attack wrapped up the year by picking up their 49th win and putting a stamp on a season that saw them go 49-15-2-2, good for 102 points and the 2nd best record in the OHL.
Also propelling the Attack to victory were Matt Schmalz, who picked up two assists in the win, and Petrus Palmu, whose one goal, two assist outing means he will finish the season with 98 points, good for 4th best in the OHL.
London, who finished 4th in the Western Conference, completed the regular season with a record of 46-15-3-4, and 99 points, 3 points behind Owen Sound’s 102 points and 49-15-2-2 record through 68 games.
After finishing the regular season with a 7-1 record over eight games against the Rangers, Owen Sound will play host to their Midwest Division rival in game one of the post-season match up on Friday, Mar. 24 at 7:30pm at the Harry Lumley Bayshore Community Centre.
Game two will follow the next night, also at 7:30pm.
