Alleged Owen Sound arsonist still in custody
The man accused of setting a five fires through downtown Owen Sound last Friday is still in custody.
42 year old John MacDonald, who acquaintances told Dock News lived at The Coach on 2nd Ave East across the street from one of the fires, has been remanded to the Superjail in Penetang.
He made his first appearance in bail court on Tuesday after being arrested Monday by Owen Sound police.
MacDonald is facing a total of 13 charges, some of them related to the fires, the rest to other criminal activities.
He is to make another court appearance Friday via video link.
The last fire to be set that morning was in the upper units of Kornblumns and Goodfellas Pizza on 2nd Ave East north of 10th Street.
It caused close to $1 million in damage to both stores, another next door and the upper apartment units.
A mother and daughter were left homeless and lost two of their three cats in the blaze.
